NJ VERNON — Vernon Township Council convened in emergency session January 21 to approve purchasing authority for the Qualified Purchasing Agent. The council unanimously passed Resolution #26-12, authorizing purchases over the bid threshold through New Jersey State Contracts and Regional Purchasing Cooperatives without further council approval, provided funds are available. Council Member Bradley Sparta's amendment specified the 13 vendors eligible for the purchases, including suppliers of fuel, salt, and vehicle maintenance services.
Resident Brian Lynch objected to the emergency process, arguing the matter should be addressed during regular budget discussions.
